I used to write to Jimmy Saville on his show 'Jim'll Fix It', every couple of months, much like many of my friends, always with the tiniest bit of hope that our dream would be made to come true......"Dear Jimmy, will you fix it for me to go to space/ get a new sister, because my one is annoying/ ride a racehorse."
I never got a reply, but eventually, I managed to achieve one of my wishes (ride is probably overstating a claim, fall off multiple times at speed is probably truer), plus my sister and I eventually decided we actually liked one another a lot.
Space has yet to be tucked into my pocket.
RIP Jimmy, you were a huge inspiration to me and always gave off the impression of being an all round good guy.

Kate Hill's Mum, Liz worked with him on Fleet Street. he raised 42 million pounds for Stoke Manderville Spinal injuries unit. He was waiting with Kate's Mum & Dad at the helipad when she was transfered to Stoke. He took Kate for a ride in his Lamboughini one day when she was feeling sad. Apparently his whole wardrobe consisted of track suits and he lived in a small flat.
I always wanted the Jim'll Fix it Chair which made tea! He was an all round good guy I think and managed to retain his distinct style.
